Despite
the smard card device firmware fully covers the requirements of the ISO
standards, custom API commands can be added if necessary. In system
firmware upload allows the device to be upgraded in the field, when
critical functionality, not part of the standard is required by the
applications. Typical example is a custom command that communicates
with an custom applet of JCOP 30 card over the contactless interface.
We have developed several commands of this type for various OEM smart card reader
customers. This way no deep knowledge of smart card reader technology is
